Our work in Zimbabwe

Impact through local partners

Sizolwethu Health Trust

The Sizolwethu Health Trust is our major partner organisation in Zimbabwe. Based in Bulawayo, this small grass-roots organisation operates a mobile health service delivering primary health care. Run by a small team consisting of a project manager, four nurses, health educators, a social media coordinator and a bookkeeper. In 2019 this team visits ten rural and peri-urban communities each week or fortnightly. The communities are spread out from 10km to 270km around Bulawayo.

Sizolwethu Borehole Rehabilitation Project

One of the projects we are proud to be a part of and partner with Sizolwethu Health Trust on is the next step in the WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene) scheme in local communities in an around Bulawayo, namely the more rural areas in Matabeleland as well as a new province in the Midlands.

We will be helping to repair broken bore-hole  and hand pumps at eight schools giving them easy access to water while at the same time looking at ways to provide better and more efficient water storage solutions.

We are very excited that this project is underway and are so grateful to our donors and partners for working with us and sacrificing so much for the betterment of the lives of the people in Matabeleland and Midlands provinces.

The project will seek to improve the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) situation in schools with the aim of addressing the risk of water-borne diseases through the provision of clean water as well as Participatory Health and Hygiene Education (PHHE).
